Hi everyone! Here's a tutorial on how to install and patch Yahoo! Messenger 5.0 and 5.5.
First of all, download the unpatched version from the Escargot website (
https://escargot.chat/downloads/yahoo-messenger) and install it, and download the Escargot Switcher (
https://escargot.chat/downloads/switcher). Install a PE Editor (recommended: Stud_PE [
http://www.cgsoftlabs.ro/zip/Stud_PE.zip]) and install it as well.
Next, open your Registry Editor (press the Windows Key + R, type "
regeditHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Yahoo\Pager and change Host Name to "m1.escargot.chat" and Socket Server "m1.escargot.chat". It should look like this:
Next, extract the contents of the Escargot Switcher zip (escargot.dll and sample-escargot.ini) to the Yahoo! Messenger directory (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Yahoo!\Messenger). Rename sample-escargot.ini to YPager.exe-escargot.ini (ATTENTION: It's YPager
.exe-escargot.ini, not only YPager-escargot.ini! You might get a "Could not load a configuration file" if that happens.). Edit that file and change type to type=yahoo.
