hi,
as it seems to be a firewall problem, you can try by disconnecting it, just before clicking on the connect button of msn.
i have the same problem with eset, & i have to do that each time.

If you want it reliable you should update to sp3 and install ie8 then use proxhttpsproxy https://forum.nina.bz/thread-23.html with guide here. After you setup if you need change ie proxy setting to localhost (like on picture on attachment) and to port that software shows or use ip of system that runs it if run it deciated like me. If you have issues feel free to ask
